Frequently Asked Questions
How many speaker events are there per year?
It really depends on the speaker and venue availability. Events where there is always a speaker are: the Annual Meeting (which is free to members), PlantFest (small admission), and Plant Nerd Night (six shorter talks that are free to attend). The rest of the year is rounded out with speakers as they are available.
I heard there are amazing door prizes, is this true?
Yes, it’s not an urban legend. Come to a speaker event and leave with a plant, book, subscription, gardening equipment, you name it!
Do HPSO members receive a discount on speaker events?
Yes! Absolutely, discounts on admission are typically 30% to 50%. Your membership is already paying off in knowledge and savings!
Where are these events?
We try to mix it up so people have the opportunity to attend something close to their home. We’ve held events with speakers throughout the Portland metro area and Lake Oswego and Oregon City.
