Vista Gardens

Bremerton, Washington — Vista Gardens sits on a south-facing hillside above the Port Washington Narrows, with wide views to the Olympic Mountains. This four-acre public botanical garden is designed to inspire resilient, sustainable landscapes. Founded and curated by John Albers, Vista Gardens features fifteen distinct garden rooms with diverse plant communities. The collection includes more than 1,800 plant types—including 450+ conifer varieties and 75+ maple types—ranging from native woodlands and a rhododendron-filled shade garden to Mediterranean-inspired borders. As a living demonstration of sustainable practices, the garden highlights climate-adaptive plantings, integrated habitat spaces, and thoughtful water management. Visitors can explore a rich tapestry of seasonal color, rare and native species, and ecologically grounded design that harmonizes beauty, function, and stewardship.
