The Fruit Safari is the Williams' food forest. Inspired by permaculture principles such as dense planting and canopy/understory communities, the Fruit Safari has evolved to 20+ productive garden rooms on a 1/4-acre suburban plot. Paths wind up the hill and around a bog. Seating areas tucked throughout offer vistas to enjoy the garden's collections. These include garden art, experiments in vertical gardening, hosta, roses, and perennials with edible uses. Fruit collections include aronia, blueberry, feijoa, goji, kiwi, mulberry and persimmon in addition to NW-typical apples, berries, cherries, and pears. This is a working urban orchard, not a pristine display garden, though if you come during peak blossom time you may not see it this way.
