After 3 decades in town, we moved to the country, with views of the Columbia, Mt. Hood and incredible sunsets. Douglas Firs, natives and spiraea grow along the perimeters. Firs have migrated along our driveway. Our garden includes berries, orchard, Darrell's vineyard, shrubs and blooms. Project in work: raised bed vegetable garden. We have many bird species but few deer, coyote, bobcat, cougar, rare bear and lynx. Voles and moles percolate the grounds. This collector's garden is adding more flowering trees and shrubs (magnolias, maples, camellia, Hamamaelis, hydrangea) and sedum. Shrub hedges increase late season interest, deflect wind and aid wildlife. The greenhouse blew down in 2016, replaced by an outdoor patio with table grapes. U-pick home vintners welcome.
