Mardi Gras Gardens
Mardi Gras Gardens
I’ve been gardening in Hillsdale for a little over 8 years. With over 600 unique plants, the garden has a “collector’s garden” feel inspired by the vast palate of plants available to Pacific Northwest gardeners, but with a healthy zonal denial aspect, too! The garden is mostly full sun and has evolved over the years with my success and failures and as my tastes and passions have changed. Collections of perennial plants like eryngium, kniphofia, dierama, crocosmia, martagon and orientpet lilies and agapanthus provide pops of color and bloom throughout the growing season. Ornamental grasses are foundational and can be found throughout the garden! Many lilies, agapanthus, kniphofia and ornamental grasses are beginning to peak this week. There is also a shady area behind the house with a hosta and fern garden. A unique and challenging feature of my garden is that there are no sidewalks so it flows directly into the the asphalt of the bordering streets!
