Lilyvilla Garden
In 2005, Lilyvilla Garden began as a Pan-Asian/Tropical garden. By 2010 light conditions had changed and horticultural experimentation had taken its aesthetic toll on the garden. It was time for ruthless editing! After removing most of the non-structual plants, I began anew with a simpler plant palette arranged in patterns that remind me of the tropical gardens I’ve studied. A large, wooden arbor and custom steel gate invite visitors into the garden. Crunchy, gravel pathways with slabs of tumbled bluestone act to slow down the visitor. Chinese banana (Musa basjoo) create entry and separation into a gravel seating area while a trickling, stone water feature leads to the main patio which features Lilyvilla-designed outdoor furniture.
