Leah’s Delight

In 2020 we purchased a 1970’s suburban lot that had a chemically fed lawn with a few trees in the front and some raised beds for vegetables and asparagus in back. I sheet mulched the lawn and started with natives and some nostalgic perennials. I strive to create habitat for fellow critters, celebrating when I saw my first snake after 5 years! I aim to minimize water waste by planting the right plant in the right place and minimize the use of chemical agents. I’m in denial that the south facing front yard is mostly shaded by a red chestnut as you will see sun perennials interplanted with hellebores and ferns . The back is full sun except for my shaded sitting corner pull of juicy shade pots. The lot is wheelchair accessible.
