The thought behind our 2023 move from 5 rural acres to a 7,000 square foot suburban lot was two-fold: to be closer to family and to allow us to establish a new “age-in-place” garden and outdoor living space while we are still relatively fit and able. In our new location, we inherited both full sun and partial shade exposures along with lawn and bark mulch and a few undesirable shrubs in the corners. Staring at a soggy and unusable winter yard from a small concrete patio inspired us to have a professionally installed hardscape done this spring to eliminate the lawn and alleviate drainage issues. The new look includes 4 planting areas to accommodate the two U-Haul loads of our favorite pots and plants relocated from our Camas hillside garden to their new home in the Raleigh Hills area. The hardscape pathways allow for safe and easy access to all areas of the garden. Please join us to see the beginning year of our new garden adventure. Parking: Our house is on a short dead-end street. Please leave the paved turnaround in front of our driveway open and avoid blocking driveways. Okay to park along the street.
