I began the garden in 2004 when I moved to this 1/3 acre corner lot. The bones of my garden are a wide variety of dogwoods, Styrax, Stewartia and maples with an understory of rhododendrons, hydrangeas and perennials. Open sunny areas are filled with color from roses, lilies, dahlias, daylilies and hardy hibiscus. Shaded areas are stuffed with hostas, tricyrtis, hellebore, epimedium, hardy fuchsias and ferns. One feature that garden visitors seem to enjoy is a drainage ditch planted with sedum, penstemon, lewisia and other perennials.
