Donna Rentfro Garden

My garden began in 1990 as a new house lot with lawn and planting beds and has transitioned into upper and lower gardens that overflow with trees, conifers, shrubs, perennials and rock. Lots of rock! When it was chosen for the Seeding Our Future garden tour in 2006 it was said to be a collectors garden and much has been added since then. The variety of trees include snow fountain weeping cherry, stewartia, tri-color beech, dogwoods, lacy leaf maples, oxydendrun, styrax and forest pansy redbud. Spring color comes from lilacs, azaleas, rhododendrons, iris, hostas, epimedium, and peonies. Summer perennials include hardy fuchsia, roses, daisies, crocosmia, grasses, coneflower and many clematis. The enkianthus and nandina supply Fall color and the weeping Cedar of Lebanon, weeping white pine, blue spruce, weeping Norway spruce provide good bones for the winter garden. Did I mention that I share this garden with Chase and Scooby our two very large dogs? I’m also working on new privacy plantings since our neighbor cut down all of his trees on the fence line. There are water features, garden art and pots of perennial and annual plantings tucked into the garden as well. Come visit!
