Chickadee Gardens
Our dream came true, in 2016 when we bought two acres, a blank slate to garden on. We started with field grass, a few trees and blackberries. Our site is south-facing and sloped, mostly open and sunny. The garden now features many Pacific Northwest natives and a mix of hardy perennials, shrubs, and trees and a small farm including an orchard and large veggie garden (and chickens). Most of the garden is full of xeric plants and also supports a host of wildlife. I love to experiment to see which plants are the hardiest in our changing climate. Desiring a sustainable garden, we practice permaculture ideals when we can. Also, I worked for Joy Creek Nursery and have learned so much and acquired many interesting plants. I currently work part time for Cistus Nursery and continue to learn and grow. Come see what crazy dreams these two former Portlanders are working on! I blog about our garden adventures regularly at chickadeegardens.com.

We have a lot of gravel paths but very few paved areas, not all of the garden is accessible for mobility challenged visitors. But all are welcome. We're on a bit of a slope so wear sturdy shoes and bring snacks for the chickens if you'd like to make friends!
