If I were to give my garden a name, it would be Barbara's Playground. It's my favorite place to spend time in every day. There I plant, prune, and putter, always trying out new varieties of flowering perennials and shrubs, and dreaming up different ways to combine them with each other.
The garden sits on a mostly sunny acre that feels bigger, thanks to the borrowed landscape beyond. Features include island beds, mixed borders, container plantings, a collection of dwarf conifers and dwarf ginkgoes, grape arbor and an eagle stone patio framed by a pergola. New this year: an Asian style combination potting shed and sitting space that looks out onto the island beds.
