A 25 year old layered garden on a double corner lot begun by HPSO's first president in 1994 and transferred to its current owner in 2012 that aims to provide year round interest. Contending with substantial shade from a near champion Cornus nuttali, black spruce and Eastern white pine it provides a woodland in the city. All but a small path of grass has been converted to plantings with ground cover of hellebores, pulmonaria, corydalis and cyclamen, with espaliered fruit trees, cistus and roses in the parking strip on SE 43rd. A recent effort to make use of the sun in the parking strip on SE Liebe has been increasingly satisfying.
