My garden is a small, 8 year-old, inner city garden; it is home to both mature and “just starting” perennials, in addition to an evolving vegetable garden. The front garden and verge are packed with perennials and shrubs, such as heather, peonies, hellebores, podophylla, hydrangeas, day-lilies, poppies, alliums, sambucus, grasses, calycanthus and calla lilies. This year we created a lettuce tower as part of our ongoing experiment with vertical vegetable gardening. Completed last year, a variegated blue stone patio and basalt walls created space for large containers of shrubs and trees. A fountain and a huge blue spruce enhance the backyard. Loving clematises, I have them growing where they will survive in a mostly shady garden. The front garden and verge are packed with perennials and shrubs, such as heather, peonies, hellebores, podophylla, hydrangeas, day-lilies, poppies, alliums, sambucus, grasses, calycanthus and calla lilies. Erin Ray’s garden, just 5 doors down, is also open. Hope to see you!
