Gen(i)us Program:
A Fanfare of Trumpets: Non-Stop Performers for the Summer Garden

Genus genius Maurice Horn is co-owner of Joy Creek Nursery 18 miles north of Portland, featuring 4 acres of display gardens and stock fields. Over his many years in horticulture, Maurice has observed how certain flowering plants have evolved with trumpet or tube-shaped flowers, and how such plants often have very long blooming periods, making them particularly useful in the garden. Hardy varieties of Phygelius, Penstemon, Zauschneria and Fuchsia are some notable examples, and Maurice will guide us through these genera and make suggestions for outstanding selections for our own gardens. He will have an array of plants for sale, as well.
